August Superfood: Berries

By on August 13, 2012

Free or reduced meals are one of the great benefits employees of our full-service hotels enjoy daily.  This year, we’ve focused on introducing superfoods to our employees.  Superfoods are generally whole, natural foods that contain various vitamins, minerals, or antioxidants.  We’re now on our seventh superfood ingredient.  In August, we are showcasing berries!

Berries are low in calories, high in fiber and they contain vitamins and minerals that are essential for normal function in your body. They have health benefits that help with cardiovascular disorders, advancing age-induced oxidative stress, inflammatory responses & diverse degenerative diseases. Additionally a berry rich diet improves levels of cholesterol and blood pressure.

A few of the berry centric entrees our employees are enjoying this month, include Blackberry Glazed Chicken Breast and Blackberry Balsamic Salad.

We’ve included the recipe for Blackberry Glazed Chicken Breast is below if you would like to give the dish a try.

What are some of the ways you incorporate berries into your meals at home?  Share with us in the comments below.
