Heidi’s Tour of Germany
On July, 11th I will be celebrating my 10 year anniversary with Hyatt. Time really does fly when you’re having fun! It feels like only yesterday I was a Human Resources Intern at the Hyatt Rosemont. People ask me all the time why I’ve worked for Hyatt for so long. My answer is always, the people, culture and opportunities. But let’s be honest, the perks don’t hurt!
Hyatt offers a great benefits package to their employees. The most popular among these benefits being employee and family rate room discounts, complimentary rooms and 50% off food & beverage during those stays. Due to these great perks I have had the opportunity to travel to amazing places like Hawaii, Aruba, Curacao and most recently Germany.
Germany is near and dear to my heart because that is where my dad is from. My dad grew up in the town of Heidelberg, hence my name Heidi, and moved to the U.S. in his late teens. I traveled to Germany with my dad as a child but hadn’t been back for 19 years. Having reached my 10-year mark with Hyatt, earning another week’s vacation, it was time to make this trip finally happen.
My dad and I traveled to Germany this past May and visited three Hyatts during our trip: Grand Hyatt Berlin, Hyatt Regency Dusseldorf and Hyatt Regency Cologne. We were able to stay at all of these Hyatts for free and enjoy the 50% discount on food and beverage.
Our first stop on the Hyatt Germany tour was the Grand Hyatt Berlin. This hotel is located in the heart of the city and is walking distance to Berlin’s major landmarks and entertainment. The hotel, located in Postdamer Platz, proudly boasts the Berlin bear.
Our second stop, Hyatt Regency Dusseldorf, Hyatt’s newest addition to Germany, was by far the most impressive hotel of them all. This hotel, located on Media Harbor, has great views of the area’s unique architecture and breathtaking modern decor. Although new, this property is already popular among the local celebrities. Last year’s winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Lena from Germany, was enjoying the trendy Pebble’s champagne lounge only a few days before our arrival.
